Pokemon The Journey of Janice

So this is a slightly different kind of post. A regular visitor of this site, Allen Chingonzoh, has posted a story idea which can hopefully, one day, be turned into a great ROM hack! For those of you who don't know, Allen has written many excellent walkthroughs for hacks such as Pokemon Adventure Red Chapter and Pokemon Flora Sky.

Below is a short excerpt of the idea. The actual story is provided in a walkthrough fashion in the detailed write-up.

Story

Janice, her 4 friends Gina, Rose, Ryan and Kelvin have graduated from high school together with other 16-year olds and it is time for them to receive their Starter Pokemon and go off on their journeys as Pokemon Trainers. But unlike the others Janice already has a Pokemon, a Pidgey that has been another dear friend of hers for a while now. When Janice asks Pidgey if it would like to tag along with her on the big adventure that awaits all Trainers...Pidgey couldn't be more excited to go on its own journey with Janice. So it begins.

Features

Story-driven game which is set in a new region called Petra that is located somewhere between Johto and Hoenn. It is split into Eastern Petra and Western Petra. A vibrant region influenced by other famous regions but has grown to shape its own identity based on the pockets of culture that its people, towns and cities provide.
New characters plus possible cameos from well-known ones!
New Team group known as Ace Team that is well-known and liked by many of Petra's denizens for the work which Ace Team does to take care of Pokemon as well as help Trainers, whether they are just starting out or are veteran Trainers who want to stay on top of their game. But every group or organisation has its share of bad eggs...
A post-game arc which has to do with a dark chapter in the Petra region's history.
Gen 1 to 3 Pokemon + pre-evolution and next evolution forms that were introduced in other Generations. Regional variants too and maybe some Petra exclusive variants too e.g. female Mime Jr. evolves into the Petran female Mr. Mime a.k.a Madamime (Madam Mime) and more.
Trade evolution and Pokemon now evolve either by Evolution Stone, regular levelling up or levelling up while holding certain items (they won't be consumed after evolution) e.g. Kadabra evolves into Alakazam by levelling up while holding a TwistedSpoon.
Pokemon can follow players in the overworld, this helps to raise the Pokemon's Friendship level.
Pokemon can learn 5 Moves instead of just 4.
Battle Abilities can have overworld effects e.g. leading your party with a Pokemon that has Intimidate will have you only encountering wild Pokemon of the same level as or higher than that Pokemon.
EXP. is earned for catching Pokemon.
Pokemon earn a little extra EXP. for defeating foes that have type(s) advantage over them.
EXP. Share is now an Option players can switch on or off.
Gen 8 battle mechanics or better.
Detailed PokeDex which includes Evolutions, Stats etc even for Pokemon that players have only Seen (modelled after the Pokemon Crystal Clear PokeDex).
Physical/Special Split.
Mega Evolution.
Day/Night cycle. Daily events and tasks issued by certain characters and the various branches of the Pokemon Research Society.
Unlimited Bag capacity.
Register Select up to 6 Key Items.
One Fishing Rod. Some Pokemon you'll find along shores and water's edges, others you find as you move further out into the water, with levels rising the further you go from land.
Itemfinder/Dowsing Machine that is modelled after the one from Pokemon Unbound: has a visual indicator that changes based on the distance between player and hidden items.
New Key Item known as a Storage Drive (given to players at the start of their journey) which works as a portable PC.
Gen 5 Repel mechanic.
Reusable TMs.
HMs can be forgotten to learn new Moves. No Gym Badges required in order to use HMs outside of battles. As long as players have the specific HM, the Move can be used outside of battle by any party member whether they can actually learn the Move or not.
8 Gyms + a tournament format for the Petra Pokemon League.
Victory Road is no longer a dungeon leading to the League, instead it will be a timed "survival game" that players must win in order to qualify for the League tournament.
No time limit, no Safari Balls for Safari Zone. Players can battle or catch Safari Pokemon with any other Poke Balls. Trainers are also present in the Safari Zone, from members of the staff (Researchers, Zone Rangers etc) to regular Trainers who are there trying to find rare Pokemon. New area in the Safari Zone has prehistoric Pokemon (accessed only after earning Badge #5).
Cheat-friendly for players who simply want to have fun playing the game with codes or just enjoy testing codes out.
